Sripathy Sooriyarachchi died in a motor accident
Parliamentarian National Organizer of SLFP (M) and former minister Sripathi Sooriyarachchi and two of his bodyguards were killed in a road accident in Anuradhapura. Mr. Sooriyarachi was confirmed dead at the Thambuththegama hospital a short while ago.

Victorian Governor General Professor David de Krester & Mrs Jan de Krester was the chief guests of this colourful multicultural festival.
Sri Lanka High Commissioner K. Balapatabendi PC, Victorian Premier Hon. John Brumby, Victorian opposition leader Hon Ted Bailliue, Melbourne Lord Mayor Cr. John So, Mayor of Greater Dandenong Cr. John Kelly, veteran Sri Lankan artiste Shelton Premarathne were among the guests.
